Yi already paying dividends

When the Bucks drafted Yi Jianlian my immediate reaction was to say that the influx of money and interest that will come from Yi’s presence may actually result in keeping the Bucks in Milwaukee. Well, the interest is there — hopefully the money will follow.

The Bucks-Bulls game was Yi’s first game televised in China, and China Daily put the ratings at 100 million viewers.

And the Orlando Sentinel has a story about the interest this Friday’s Bucks-Rockets game is garnering from the Chinese media:

According to an NBA spokesperson, three national television stations will be in Houston to broadcast the game, along with an estimated 10-15 foreign print journalists, who already are in the country advancing the game. The NBA is hosting its own viewing party Friday night (which will be Saturday morning in China) in Beijing.

Already more national TV appearances scheduled in China than the Bucks will see in the US this season. Good to see the Yi pick working out so well so far.
