Mo’s Back!

July 14th, 2007 by Brett Boyer · 3 Comments

ESPN.com is reporting that Mo Williams has agreed to return to the Milwaukee Bucks.

What did I tell you — as soon as Gerald Wallace signed, that offer from Milwaukee went up.  ESPN says the deal is for 6 years, $52 million ($8.67/year) and Williams can opt out after the 4th and 5th years, so he could still hit free agency again before he turns 30.

That’s a reasonable amount of money for Williams. It’s right in between the deals that TJ Ford and Kirk Hinrich got, and Williams is light years better than any other alternative the Bucks would have.

Next up: Yi.

I like Mo a lot, and this is coming from a Dallas fan. He’s certainly a similar player to our own Jason Terry, though a better passer.

Good for the Bucks, or maybe not:

Solid move, not sure what the heck plan B would have been. With Mo we now have some good pieces in place. Enough if healthy to be a middle of pack Eastern playoff squad. Think we still would be better with a pure point guy and Mo scoring mad hoops off bench. I am very curious to see what the starting lineup is going to be assuming that everything gets sorted out and Yi gets into camp. Obvious in backcourt with Mo and Redd, also clear that Bogut will be the center. Do the Bucks play Villanueva at the 3 and Yi at 4, or does Simmons start at 3??? Curious what everyone thinks.

Yi doesn’t start, at least not right away. He looked too raw in the summer league games.
